Sunday activities

Our children meet as Pilots on Sunday mornings between 10:30 and 11:30. Pilots is a Christian organisation for young people sponsored by the United Reformed Church. For more details follow the link to the URC site.

Young people over 11 meet on second Sunday evenings between 6:25 and 7:30 in the Tower Room at the top of the church.

Our aim is for the children to become familiar with stories from the Old and New testaments and to learn Christian values while having fun.

We use a variety of teaching material such as Salt from Scripture Union or Roots from Churches Together.

Each year we support a registered charity. In 2003 we raised over £1000 for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. This was enough to co-sponsor a trainee dog and supply its harness and food for a year. This year we are raising money for Send a Cow, a charity which supplies livestock to farmers in poor areas in Africa. Their diet is improved by milk, eggs, fruit and in the case of animals the manure produced will also improve the fertility of the ground. We are aiming to collect enough money to send a cow, a pig and six chickens.

Our Overseas project this year looked at the life and culture in Papua New Guinea. We were helped by Dr Marion Schofield who has visited the island.

In May we attended the Pilot rally at Legoland.
